MILLENARIA VEDA

Who are we?

My name is Simone Rossi Doria, I am the principal of Millenaria Veda whose history began in 1987,  when my sister Susy fell seriously ill during a trip to India and was masterly cured by a then unknown ayurvedic doctor called Pankaj Naram. Invited to Italy to hold a conference of which at that time was a medicine known to few , in a short time he was surrounded by a group of italian doctors who pioneerd the spread of this extraordinary and ancient science.

During these past years Millenaria Veda , thanks to a group of people who are constantly searching to improve quality of life for themselves and others, have  tried to spread Ayurveda in Italy on various fronts: in the medical-therapeutical field together doctors who have distinguished themselves for their diagnostic and theraupetic capacity,  in the fieldof nutrition by being more perceptable to a  correct and  healthy  choice  of foods, and in the cultural field  by creating strongly organized structures able to render an overall service. Finally we are now able to show our work, conscious of being able to introduce the Science of Ayurveda in its entirety.

Millenaria Veda directly imports from India and distributes in Italy ayurvedic herbal products,  remedies which are essential in most of the ayurvedic therapies, paying special attention to  quality control according to strict european standards.

Millenaria Bio is a Health Food Centre and Herb Shop that opened in Bologna in 1997 where you will find: the very best organic-biodynamic products, fresh or packaged, Dr Naram’s whole range of Ayushakti Ayurvedic herbal products and a vast choice of phyto products and traditional cosmetics.

The food section revolves around Patrizia whose knowledge of natural foods will help you to choose among the many products carefully selected mostly from small producers who nowdays still put so much love in their work.

Millenaria Scienza is a non-profit cultural association that intends to take care of people who are intent in dedicating some time to themselves, to the inner-self which is nothing more than trying to give an answer to one’s doubts, to reach the day when it is no longer necessary to ask questions and receive answers.

Far from wanting to set a model to follow, our main object is to offer the instruments with which each one of us will be able to walk along the road of knowledge, helped by experts and authoritative speakers who can introduce you, without asking for anything, to the magnificent world of the Science of Ayurveda and to holistic culture. Meetings that will transport you from nutrition to knowledge of herbs; from explanation of the satvic quality of food and behaviour; to bio-architecture, aromatherapy, yoga and how to face a troubled soul, from depression to acupuncture and furthermore nutrition during pregnancy and for children, and many more subjects.

The Ayurvedic Ayushakti Center is a fundamental point of reference for all who wish for an ayurvedic consultation and for the psychophysical purification Panchakarma treatments done by highly qualified ayurvedic surgical doctors. It is also a gathering place for all those western doctors interested in carrying on a scientific research in ayurvedic medicine for better integration in the scientific academic western world.

Millenaria Veda’s main purpose is to promote Ayurveda in Italy and Great Britain drawing attention  to the necessity of going beyond the state of one’s health as evalueted by a symptomatological approach.

Most of the time we think we are ill and need medical treatment only when an illness manifests itself with various symptoms, more or less serious, and general health problems.

Actually the disease has been dormant in our body for some time.

Frequently people feel quite healthy while the Doshas  are not balanced  and a great amount of Aam is in their  body. As a result in a short amount of time  the disease already  existing and in its first stage  will manifest itself and a name can be given to it. Therefore what does it mean to be ill.

Can one retain to be so only when medical terms can be applied to symptoms or to a general feeling of ill health?

Through pulse diagnosis, Ayurvedic doctors can verify if  Doshas are balanced and therefore intervene  in case of disequilibrium  and the resulting disease in its first phase. We must consider this unbalance a disease which weighs on the functional integrity  of the body.

However, it is clear that the value of a diagnosis done through pulse reading has a fundamental role also when faced with a disease in the more advanced phase in order to understand and fight its causes.

We are therefore trying to make people more aware of the importance of prevention  and once having reached this goal, to find the cause for the loss of balance in the Doshas particularly due to a faulty diet and lifestyle which  at times certainly do not help us to keep healthy.

WHAT IS AYURVEDA

The origin

Over 5000 years ago emerged a wonderful and complete curative system called “Ayurveda". The term originates from the word Ayu which means Life and Veda which means Knowledge but its comprehension goes beyond that of a healing system, in fact it enfolds the Art and Science of life. It is a holistic science that maintains health and treats illness whether it be physical, mental or spiritual. By correctly following the Ayurvedic Principles one can maintain a youthful health.

The roots of Ayurveda have their origin in the “Charak Samhita”, a treatise 3.500 years old that was based on the “Agnivesh Samhita  the oldest treatise at the time which was several thousand years old.

DOSHAS:

Pitta, Kapha and Vata

Basically, Ayurveda proposes to spread a better quality of life. According to Ayurveda, the Universe, the Macrocosm, the Microcosm and the Human Being are part of the Panchmahabhoot, the 5 fundamental elements: Space, Air, Fire, Water and Earth.

The balance of these 5 elements  assure life in this Universe and in any other living creation. The elements ether and air combine to form Vata, the elements fire and water rule the formation of Pitta and the elements earth and water form Kapha.

A harmonious state of the three doshas is of fundamental importance for the physical welfare of a person.

Dosha means “that which darkens or causes things to decay” therefore when out of balance the doshas are the causative forces in the disease process, but when in harmony they create physical balance.
